As our blog rapidly approaches its first birthday, it's high time that I heed Stephanie's orders to post something. Our Chile trip provides rich fodder...
We arrived at the airport in Santiago at around 8am Chile time and passed through immigration with relative alacrity (although Mom was held up in paying for her "entry visa" due to slightly ripped or damaged bills). By 9:30 we were in our rental and on the Pan American Highway south to Santa Cruz and the Colchagua Valley wine region. The roads in Chile (and all infrastucture, in general) were surprisingly well maintained. We quickly learned that this is no stereotypical Latin American country. It is clean, safe, friendly, and modern.

*A stretch to call this a “hotel” (really a bare-bones shelter with a bed), but no better views will be found on the planet.
